More swaps !!

Yet another swap on UK Scrappers (can you tell that I like swaps? )  This one was for Decorated Christmas Chipboard ... I chose tags as my 'thing'  I used the old sizzix original scalloped tag, cut 10 from mountboard (well it is the nearest thing to chipboard I have in my stash!)  The first picture is what I planned to do but after doing one, I decided that I didn't like it and chose something else instead !  It was inked around the edges with distress inks and stamped with a Crafty Individuals stamp and covered with UTEE ... I think it looks quite poo but my daughter likes it so she can have it lol .... BTW - do we have smilies on here as I am having serious non smiley withdrawal symptoms ! :(

The next picture is the tag I actually did for the swap ... again - distress inked edges, stamped image (who's make escapes me right now and I can't be bothered getting up and going 2 or 3 feet to my desk to find out !!) I coloured his face with watercolour pencils, used gold dabber paint (put on with my pokey tool !) for his glasses rims and glossy accents for his lenses :) I used the middle bit of a poinsettia medallion stamp for the flower (covered in UTEE) and die cut the letters and added glossy accents to the top of them ... oh and a bit of stickles diamond around santa's head :)  Hope you likey :)

Another update ??! call the doctor !

Good afternoon everyone in Blog land :)

Most of these posts on here are going to be to do with swaps and circle journals that I am taking part in over on UK Scrappers.

Today's little batch of piccies is for Netty's Take One Stamp Maze book ... I was thinking of hosting a Christmas Maze Book swap as I love them but as this one has come along ... I'll leave it to Netty to do all the hard work of hosting :P kind soul that I am haha !! I'll have a think and see what other swap ideas I have buzzing around the inside of my head.

Anyway .... here are some pics, I have made my maze book with a spine (for the 1st time) I normally do them with just a strip of ribbon connecting the 2 covers.  As I don't know what I am going to receive back, and also because I did my faces in mad colours and sort of Picasso-esque ... my cover is covered in a bright paper ... not normally me but I think it goes well.  Also - because I am a complete OCD freak (blame the Capricorn in me) ... I have named everyone's page lol !

These are the faces in progress, I coloured the face in with water colour pencils, the bits around the face (hair??) are painted with shimmer paints, I stamped 2 faces for each 1 face so I could colour in and cut out the eyes and mouth, which I then stuck on the 1st stamped and coloured image.  I then UTEEd the face, cut out and stuck on to a black square of card.

At first the pages in my book were cream bazzil ... but I ripped them out and re-did it with a lime green PP, I have stamped each page with a different Tim Holtz stamp which will be half covered by the faces but I dont mind :)

I just need to think up a title for the front and then I can send it off :)

Monthly tags

On UKS - I have been taking part (since January) in the Monthly tag swap.  Each month the tag theme is based around the birthstone for that particular month plus a 'twist' :)   I will add my other tags here later but for now - this is the one I did for October.  The theme being Opal, woman/girls/female, and music.  My tag has a spider with a black opal body, (I was waiting for these to arrive from China - ordered from Ebay and didn't expect to get them really ! so it was a surprise when they actually turned up !)  The words around the tag are taken from a song from a group called 'Space'  - they say .... "Shock shock horror horror shock shock horror, the female of the species is more deadly than the male"

I think I'm ill !!

2 posts in one day ... there must be something wrong with me !  Anyway - I will be back to edit this properly later but some impatient people are waiting to see pics lol ... naming no names ... *coughsuzycough* :P

This is the 2nd of my CJs to be returned to me last week :)  Mojo Busters, my theme was Myths, Fantasy and Legends.

Afternoon all :)

Well - here I am again, updating the blog ... twice in 1  week ... miracles DO happen !!!

Last week saw the return of 2 of my circle journals that I have been participating in over on UK Scrappers.  The 1st one is called 'Public Art' and was part of the Mixed Media Masterpieces CJ.  I sent pieces of 6x6 grungeboard for people to create mini masterpieces of local art and also a concertina book for them to write about their chosen piece of art.  I have 9 pieces of work and I am going to add them all to a large canvas (once I decide how I am going to decorate it) !

The 1st piece is mine ... and is quite poo actually lol ! but I had never ventured into the world of mixed media and I have learned a lot from everyone else's CJs that passed through my hands over the last 9 months.  It is photos of Antony Gormley's statues at Crosby beach, plus a few added touchy feely bits ! there is some actual rust from one of the statues - but don't tell Antony!

Next up we have 'Eros, Piccadilly' - this was EJC's entry (for some reason it is not in my photos - even though I have just taken the photo of it !! ) I will re-take it and add it later.

Then we have NettyB's 'Banksy' ... I love this image and wonder if I could sell it in a few years when I am very poor ! :)

'The Irwell Sculpture Trail' following the 33 mile length of the River Irwell with works from local and international artists - this was done by Cynthia (Mistyrat)

Next is the 'Russel (Rustle) Family.  These take up residence along the Water of Leith in Edinburgh ... no-one knows where they come from but they arrive complete with Autumn accessories, artist unknown.  This entry was by Lou @Papermaker

4,000 tonnes of compressed sand, 40 sculptors and 10,000 square metres of the central beach at Great Yarmouth are what were needed to create Hades, Lord of the Underworld.  This entry was from Tigs (Helen)

Next up is Scrapelephant (Helen's) entry of the 'Wishing Fish Clock' weighing over 3 tonnes, it's mechanism at over 45 feet high is said to be the tallest in the world. Underneath the clock is a 12 foot wooden fish, when the hour strikes, the fish wiggles it's tail, rolls it's eyes and plays the tune - 'I'm forever blowing bubbles'

Buzzybea's entry of The Brick Train, Darlington is next.  Created in 1997 it is modelled on a 1938 steam locomotive 'Mallard'.  185,000 bricks were used, it weighs 15,000 tonnes and covers an area of 600 square metres.

The final entry in my Public Art CJ is oddly enough, another Antony Gormley statue :)  This is from Magpie (Sharon) and is the 'Angel of the North' - Britain's largest sculpture.

Hope you like them, thanks for looking :)

This thing drives me mad !!!!

Good morning to all those in blog land.  I am probably talking to myself as most of my followers will have given up the ghost by now waiting for me to post something highly exciting/amusing/boring* (*delete as appropriate)

The thing is ... "I just haven't got a clue what to do" (oooo I feel a song coming on !!!)

I have just started a new Circle Journal over on UKS ... this one is called 'Rock Resurrected' and my theme is all about the one and only Steve Tyler from Aerosmith. I will try and add some photos here and if it works then ... woohoo - we are in business    Shall we see what happens ?  Here goes .....

That is the front and the back cover for now  and it seems to have worked ... I shall upload this post and see what it looks like !

Well - as it DID work I am now updating the post to add the rest of the pics .... there'll be no stopping me now - you'll be sorry Suzy ! lol !

Next up will be my Intro/rules page and then the page to hold the CD (which I have yet to do .... oops !!)

I think I am getting the hang of this now !  Next up is my DLO ... it is Aerosmith in concert - Dublin 2007.  Had a nightmare getting to the place and arrived just as the band were coming on stage !! we had missed the support but I wasn't that bothered as it was 'The Feeling' .... The Feeling ? at an Aerosmith concert for God's sake !!  Managed to get quite near the front too :D

Next up I think is my sign in ... I am asking everyone to make 'band passes' and I will attach to a mini lanyard ... which I have also still got to make .... oops again !
And finally - my last page which has a few photos of Steve and the group ... for people to use if they don't have their own pics :)

The next CJ to come my way was Beth's (Megbaby).  Her CJ is 'Songs' and we had to choose a song that we love and why.  This was a hard choice as I love 1000s of songs but I decided to go with my earliest memory of a rock song ... the one and only Mr Mercury and Queen :)
